Template motion in support of the campaign to protect the (olive) harvest in the West Bank.
This branch notes:
1) 157 states around the world, including the UK, recognise the State of Palestine.
2) Israel currently militarily occupies the West Bank, which makes up 94% of the territory of the State of Palestine.
3) As well as military occupation, Israel also sponsors a settlement programme involving the construction of new outposts, and the displacement and dispossession of Palestinians from their current homes.
4) Settlers, and the state forces which protect them, regularly carry out attacks, sometimes murderous ones, against Palestinians, with the aim of forcibly displacing them.
This branch further notes:
1) Olive farming is an economically and culturally significant industry in Palestine.
2) The olive harvest has regularly been attacked by settlers.
3) The formation of Protect The Harvest, an international coalition mobilising activists to provide a protective presence to stand with Palestinian olive farmers against settler violence during the 2026 olive harvest.
This branch believes:
1) Protective presence activity is an important form of direct-action solidarity, which can help Palestinian communities defend themselves against settler violence.
2) The involvement of Israeli organisations in Protect The Harvest shows that there is an anti-occupation movement within Israel. Although it is a minority, international support can help it grow.
This branch resolves:
1) To support the Protect The Harvest coalition and circulate information about it to our members.
2) To donate [£_] via https://secure.nif.org/a/protect-the-harvest-rhr
3) To invite a speaker to a future meeting.
4) To submit this resolution to our [NEC or other appropriate body] and request that the national union becomes a Partner in the Protect The Harvest coalition: https://protecttheharvest.net/become-a-partner/
