The sands shift on Brexit

In the last quarter, we can see the sands shifting on the government’s policy towards the EU.

The March 2026 Commons Foreign Affairs Committee report on the so-called “reset” is quietly scathing about its inadequacies.
The EU has however been opening doors for expanding the “reset”.
The journalist Rafael Behr concludes from a review of the “reset” so far that only full rejoining-the-EU works.
The Fabians have produced a document called “Pressing Reset”: the articles by Stella Creasy and Liam Byrne are particularly interesting.
Labour Left Internationalists is for a push to rejoin the EU, with rejoining the Single Market and the Customs Union as clear and more immediate next steps.
